Leicester City Eyes Brazilian Striker for Possible Promotion Push
With only four games to go of their Championship season, Leicester City still look odds on to claim one of the top two automatic promotion spots. The Foxes were way out in front at the top of the table at one stage, but as the 2023/24 season has progressed, they’ve been slowly reeled in. They do have a game in hand over the two teams nearest to them, however. Ipswich Town are only ahead of them by one point and Leeds United behind them by a point, so the all whites could technically be out of the automatic promotion picture if they fail to win all of their games and Leicester emerge victorious in theirs. That would leave Ipswich as having to fall by the wayside, but as the form team of the three, that’s unlikely. Clearly, gaining promotion to the Premier League would allow the Foxes to spend big in the transfer market and, perhaps, give them a better chance of staying up than the last time they were in the English top-flight. Regardless of whether they make it or not, it appears that the club are scouting a player that they’d like to sign if they’re in the Championship or Premier League.
According to Filbert Way, former player turned scout, Sean St. Ledger, is in Brazil to take a look at hot-shot striker Jeh. Currently playing for second tier side, Ponte Preta, Jeh has apparently scored a reasonable 16 goals in 46 league games during the 2023/24 campaign.
Whether he can translate that kind of goalscoring form into the English leagues is a moot point at present, though what seems clear is that Brazilian players do offer value for money, and many of them end up at the giants of European football, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Leicester clearly see something in him and will likely keep tabs on him for a while longer.
